Contractor Selection raises spirits at Bacardi-Martini
Bacardi-Martini are the brand owners and distributors of internationally recognised premium spirits. Brand names include Bacardi, Martini, Grey Goose, 42 Below, Cazadores, Bombay Sapphire, Jack Daniel’s, Southern Comfort, Tuaca, Chambord, Drambuie, Woodford Reserve and Finlandia. Successful promotion relies on effective handling of Point of Sale materials, promotional merchandise and other advertising material.
The storage and distribution operation is responsible for ensuring some 160,000pa Point of Sale material kits, and 16,000 additional daily orders, are processed and delivered directly to c60,000 UK bars and pubs and 100 field staff’s operational bases or appropriate collection points. Central to the Point of Sale operation is the production of kits to support promotional campaigns, consisting of a range of items packed in a box which are typically used to provide display items to retail outlets.
Successful point of sale activity relies on a distribution contractor who is able to manage and operate a complex range of services including:
Web-site for online ordering by field support staff
Central allocation of stock to support campaigns
Monitoring the timely arrival of promotional items
Preparation of kits which are subject to continual change
Delivery of items and kits to field staff and retail outlets against agreed deadlines
Recording of individual brands stock levels and expenditure
In order to assist in selecting a suitable contractor, Bacardi-Martini invited Davies & Robson to provide the following support:

Documenting the services required
Preparing tender documents
Managing the tender process
Evaluating the contractors submissions
Compiling a shortlist and revised tender documents
Preparing an initial draft contract
Assisting with contract negotiation
Coordinating the completion of the final contract documentation
The contractor chosen was MDA, based on their extensive experience in Point of Sale distribution, suitable warehouse facilities and a market leading IT capability.
