Blockbuster has 300 high street outlets across the UK. It offers a complex product mix, stocking videos for rental and retail confectionery, film related licensed merchandise and music.

The nature of its business is highly seasonal and, in addition, stock for a major film release is built up for a specific release day and has a very short life span.

Blockbuster’s challenge was to combine its hitherto discrete primary distribution supply channels through a central distribution chain. This would allow it to have better control of its supplier base, quality, inventory and drop profiles.

Davies & Robson assisted Blockbuster with the selection of an appropriate third party supplier, which included the following elements:
