The Disney Store

Warehouse Process and Location Study

The Disney Store’s European Distribution Centre is based in Coventry. Expansion across Europe led to Davies & Robson being invited to undertake a warehouse location, size and operation review.

The project began with an assessment of all existing processes and data. Projections were made to reflect future growth programmes and market changes.

Davies & Robson found that the warehouse operation was akin to the fashion industry as much of the merchandise with film links has a quick turnover with high peaks, core lines are narrow and there are a high proportion of hanging garments.

As fifty per cent of Disney’s stores are in the UK and expertise is already present within the existing work-force, it was deemed prudent to keep the new, larger warehouse within the same vicinity, with its design and operating systems undertaken locally. Suitable new picking and storage methods were developed that would allow concurrent picking and replenishment.

Davies & Robson continued to provide support to The Disney Store throughout the implementation process, providing guidance and support to The Disney Store implementation team, particularly in the specification of modifications to their Warehouse Management System. The new warehouse is now operating successfully.
