Outsourcing Warehouse and Home Delivery Distribution Services
Wickes is a leading brand within the UK DIY market operating some one hundred and sixty Home Improvement Centres throughout England, Wales and Scotland. The company offers a targeted range of, primarily, own brand products including a range of kitchens, conservatories and bedrooms which are sold through unique showroom displays and design consultants supported by home delivery to customers.
As part of their outsourcing review Davies & Robson was retained by Wickes to assist them in the selection of a contractor to deliver continuous improvement in meeting their current and future home delivery warehousing and distribution requirements.
The scope of the ITT firstly encompassed the management and operation of the 160,000 ft² Home Delivery Centre warehouse at Northampton and dedicated delivery fleet.
Davies & Robson’s first hand knowledge of third party companies, enabled them to provide Wickes with a wide ranging support package to meet their objectives, including:
Identification of possible contractors who have the capability, capacity and culture to provide the required services
Preparation of an Invitation to Tender document
Management of the ITT process
Response analysis, vendor rating and short list production
Development of pricing system designed to drive efficiency and cost management
Contract drafting
Commercial negotiation
Davies & Robson completed the assignment with Wickes selecting Christian Salvesen to be their home delivery partner.
