Warehouse Design
Purpose:
The purpose of this course is to enable delegates to become familiar with the principles underlying the design, structure and operation of a warehouse and to be able to begin to identify the ways in which current operation can benefit from improved warehouse design.
Objectives:
At the end of the programme delegates will:
Know the guiding principles of materials handling
Understand the basics of warehouse design and layout
Appreciate the relevance of data collection, analysis and application
Be able to determine appropriate combinations of storage and handling equipment
Identify the trade offs between equipment and buildings
Recognise the relevance of dock facilities for different operations
Be familiar with order picking systems, design and equipment
Have an appreciation of the factors favouring warehouse automation
