Centaur Services are one of the UK’s leading veterinary wholesalers supplying over 22,000 veterinary medicine and ancillary products to over 1,200 practices throughout the UK.
Following a period of sustained growth, particularly with new customers, and increasing demand from more distant delivery regions - and a continued pressure to improve service and offer later ordering and earlier delivery - Centaur approached us to undertake a transport modelling exercise to review their distribution infrastructure and delivery operation.
Using our industry experience we tested a number of alternative infrastructure options using DPS transport modelling software. The review concluded that whilst the current number of out bases was optimal, moving 2-3 locations could provide a significant potential saving of the current distribution cost.
“Davies & Robson transport consultants provided an insightful review of the options available to optimize our distribution service and the potential cost savings achievable, and enabled a number of ‘what if’ scenarios to be tested and explored.”
