HellermannTyton Japan Warehouse Review

HellermannTyton Japan Warehouse Review

Background

HellermannTyton is a leading manufacturer and supplier of quality products for fastening, fixing, installing, connecting, insulating, protecting and identifying electrical cables and network connectivity solutions. Operating 15 world-class manufacturing facilities and developing products at 12 locations, HellermannTyton employs more than 5,000 workers in 38 countries around the world.

Project

Davies & Robson were commissioned to review plans for the layout and operation of a new Japan based warehouse. The multi-floored facility was designed with conveyors and mobile racking systems.

Using online meeting tools, screensharing and voice over IP conferencing, Davies & Robson were able to get to grips with the proposed layout and handling methods, review the forecast throughput requirements and recommended a number of adjustments that would ensure the planned investment was sound and capable of meeting the future demands of HellermannTyton Japan.

Results

In summary our recommendations improved the use of the planned layout, created opportunities for increased productivity, and reduced the likelihood of bottlenecks during peak periods of activity.

Tim Evans, Managing Director at HellermannTyton said “Having worked with Davies & Robson on the plans for our UK facility we had confidence that they could quickly and efficiently support a review of our planned warehouse in Japan despite the obvious challenges of distance and language.”
