Mercona specialise in the sale of hair care and body care products under the own label brands of the multiple retailers and high street chains. Mercona source the vast majority of its product from its parent company in Germany, who develop own label and private label products for the German and Southern European market.
Davies & Robson undertook a full end-to-end business process review of the order fulfilment process, in conjunction with existing Mercona staff members who were instrumental in highlighting the nuances of the processes which fell outside of the core ERP system.
Davies & Robson made a number of specific recommendations, providing actions that Mercona could take independently, and in conjunction with their parent company and also their EDI interface provider. This list of actions significantly eliminated a large percentage of the out of system workarounds that were in place, and as a result reduce process complexity. In addition, these changes also supported initiatives from retailers in regard to some of their distribution centre processes.
