SpaMedica was established in 2008 in Manchester as an eye and skin treatment centre and is now a leading independent provider of NHS eye patient services. They also provide other ophthalmic procedures such as YAG capsulotomy and AMD treatments.
SpaMedica currently operates over fifty hospitals across the UK, and also stores and delivers product from two warehouses in Bolton and Wokingham.
Davies & Robson were invited to provide support in looking at capacity improvement solutions at both their Bolton & Wokingham warehouses. This involved an initial analysis of the existing sku range to form a view around the different types of storage required, and where layout improvements and additional space could be created as both warehouses were running close to full capacity.
Davies & Robson suggested a series of warehouse improvements to SpaMedica, increasing storage and optimising operations & layout. A complete new set of delivery routes were also introduced following the modelling work undertaken, reducing both overall miles and operating hours. These recommendations have now been fully implemented.
‘Davies & Robson provided high quality and practical solutions to our warehousing and transport issues, and these have now been fully implemented. We have engaged for an additional piece of warehousing work which will underpin our business growth strategy and eagerly look forward to the output from this follow-on work. We have been delighted with their contribution so far.
