Transport Review for Global Brands

Global Brands is an independent drinks company founded in 1997 by entrepreneur Steve Perez and sells multiple brands in over fifty countries across the world. These include household names such as VK, Hooch, Franklin & Sons, and All Shook Up. The brands sit across five main business categories which are Ready-to-Serve (RTS), Ready-to-Drink (RTD), Soft Drinks & Tonics, Spirits & Liqueurs, and Beer.

Global Brands contacted Davies & Robson to undertake a full strategic review of its transport operation. The project brief included the following areas:

  • Reviewing existing load planning methodology
  • Assessing the rationale in allocating work between the in-house fleet, third party hauliers, parcel carrier and pallet network providers
  • Reviewing the existing fleet size and mix
  • Analysing both inbound and outbound traffic flows, looking at monthly seasonality and peaks within months

Davies & Robson modelled both the inbound and outbound data over a period of nine months to establish a base case for the business. Following that, a number of alternative scenarios were modelled, which flexed the in-house fleet, took account of both inbound and outbound flows, and looked at different workload allocations with third party providers.

All scenarios were then costed based on actual Global Brands unit prices, and the evidence clearly showed that there were some significant savings to be made by making changes to fleet size, operational working, order allocation and flow consideration. In addition, Davies & Robson made some clear recommendations as to the use of Transport Management Systems.

Davies & Robson completed the project in a very friendly and professional manner. We agreed a project scope and timetable upfront and everything went to plan.  We have already started to implement some of the recommendations.
