PLEDGE OFFICE CHAIRS REVIEW TRANSPORT OPERATIONS

Established in 1970 Pledge Office Chairs have remained one of the UK's leading office seating manufacturers.  With a significant annual transport expenditure, the leadership team recognised the importance of ensuring that transport activity was fully aligned with business growth, customer expectations, and long‑term sustainability.

Pledge Office Chairs commissioned Davies & Robson to undertake an independent Transport Review to evaluate the efficiency, cost‑effectiveness, and future suitability of its UK delivery operation.  A detailed review covering route planning, fleet utilisation, delivery performance, subcontractor usage, and cost structures was undertaken.

Davies & Robson developed a comprehensive set of recommendations structured into immediate, medium‑term, and long‑term actions. Immediate priorities included strengthening load planning discipline, improving cost recovery, and introducing clearer operational KPIs. Medium‑term initiatives focused on evaluating alternative fleet configurations, implementing an improved transport management system, and benchmarking subcontractor rates. Long‑term strategic options explored revised delivery zoning, increased consolidation, and potential outsourcing scenarios.

The final output was a fully costed three‑year transport strategy, providing Pledge with a clear roadmap for operational improvement and future transport development.

The review delivered exactly what we needed—clear insight, practical recommendations, and a strategic plan that will help us strengthen our transport operation for years to come. Davies & Robson exceeded our expectations.
