Davies & Robson reviewed its UK warehousing operations to ensure it's operating at maximum efficiency particularly with regards to its fixed costs.
The UK Distribution Centre has a footprint of 150,000 ft2 and employs 60 people across three shifts. Half of the products are received from the adjacent factory by a vehicle shuttle and the other half by container from Europe.
The review provided the senior management team with a detailed insight of the effectiveness of the warehouse operations.
The operation is generally well organised and well run, with some opportunities for process, report generation and WMS functionality improvements. Using the project outputs, the operational team was able to develop specific actions to target these improvements.
