ACO Technologies plc is based in Shefford, Bedfordshire and is the UK arm of the ACO Group. The ACO Brand is recognised as a leading supplier in the design, development, and manufacture of innovative surface water drainage systems from a variety of materials such as polymer concrete, iron, steel, and plastic.
Davies & Robson were invited to undertake a strategic review of the ACO logistics operation based at the Shefford site. The review included the order fulfilment process from order receipt to order despatch, with specific focus on the warehouse and transport elements of this process and also involved in-depth analysis and interviews with members of the ACO team.
The resulting report, especially the recommendations and next steps summary have helped ACO shape their logistics strategy, benchmarking the existing delivery lead times, reviewing the service offering, identifying operational efficiency opportunities and understanding costs.
Logistics processes and customer service expectations have changed rapidly over the past few years, and we felt, with the recent investment at Shefford, it was timely to review the whole logistics operation from goods-in, stock management, through to customer shipments. We were already aware of Davies & Robson’s experience in this field and decided that third-party high-level logistics “health check” was the most appropriate way to approach this.
D&R’s overall approach with the ACO team whilst doing their research was non-evasive and collaborative. D&R took the time to interview members of the team to gain their valuable insights and experience. This made the resulting recommendations and report easier to understand for the team at ACO to take forward into their future logistics operation.
